About Tamara
Tamara Stoneman is inspired by the beauty she sees in life every day. With a strong focus on the ocean and Australian flora and fauna, she paints using a variety of mediums including watercolour, pastel, oils and acrylic.
Tamara grew up in Murwillumbah surrounded by the natural beauty of mountains and cane fields. During school, she was always creative and art teachers such as Judith Sutton and Ken Siddall inspired her to begin her art journey which later included studying under Sonja Georgeson in Sydney in the 1990’s. Her journey as a creator is not merely a pursuit of aesthetic expression, but a profound exploration of her connection to the natural world.
In 1989 she married guitarist and songwriter David Stoneman, and lived on the northern beaches in Sydney for 12 years before moving to a six acre property in Tanglewood, Northern NSW in 1999.
David and Tamara have played music together for many years with Tamara on keyboard, and their original music reflects an appreciation for the ocean and the relaxed lifestyle of life on the North Coast. Tamara's painting "Wave of Love" is the cover art for their North Coast Time CD. Their current band, The Beach Poets can be streamed on all the live streaming services including Spotify.
Tamara worked as a senior Art Teacher Aide at Hillcrest Christian College, Reedy Creek for three years up until 2022 and taught a weekly Art Excellence program after school for students from years 7 to 12 during that time.
Having always felt a strong connection to the beauty of nature, the combination of Tamara's painting and music provides a creative outlet to share what she sees and feels with others.
Tamara has exhibited her work at Henning International Galleries in Sydney, 109 Collective Art Exhibitions in Byron Bay, and the 50th Anniversary of Deep Purple exhibition in Germany. She has been a finalist three times in the Dean Cogle Portrait Prize exhibition at Dust Temple, Currumbin and has exhibited her work several times at Mist Gallery, Cabarita Beach. Prints of her paintings have been sold at several local gift shops and cards can be purchased directly from Tamara online.
